Active Ingredients of Ilog Maria Products

We have been harvesting: Honey, Beeswax, Pollen, Propolis, Royal Jelly, Bee Venom from our own honeybees for about thirty years. We have also been using them liberally for ourselves in our life here on the farm. I am in-charge of beekeeping and Violaine is in charge of our laboratory, where she and her assistants make all of our products by hand.

We take extra care not to change whatever we harvest from our bees, so that you get the full benefits of their goodness.

Honey is an emollient – it makes skin softer, a humectant – it pulls moisture from the surrounding air, a disinfectant, a cleanser, a preservative, a healing agent and a toner for the digestive system especially the stomach and liver, it is also a lubricant for the intestines. Honey is contained in:

  • Honey Cider Vinegar
  • Throat Spray
  • Face Scrub
  • Soaps
  • Lotions and Cleanser Moisturizer
  • Shampoos and Liquid Soaps

Beeswax is a natural wax secreted by honeybees that is edible; it is completely safe. Beeswax is malleable, it preserves moisture on your skin, it is a skin penetrant which makes skin soft, it is an ideal soap hardener, it even penetrates wood and leather to preserve and enhance them, it is also a good exfoliant.
  • Candles
  • Beeswax Clay
  • Ointments
  • Wood Polish
  • Leather Balsam
  • Soaps
  • Face Scrub

Pollen has complete nutritive qualities and “feed” your skin while providing exfoliant properties as well. It also contains beneficial yeasts whci help in good fermentation and digestion.
  • In Face Scrub
  • In Honey Cider Vinegar

Propolis is a natural preservative and has a strong disinfecting property. It inhibits the growth of bacteria, viruses and fungi. It also strengthens your immune system.

  • In Throat Spray
  • In Toothpaste
  • In Soaps
  • In Liquid Soaps, Bath Gel and Shampoos
  • In Face Scrub
  • In Bath Salts
  • In Lotions and Cleanser Moisturizers
  • In Soaps
  • In Feminine Wash
  • In Liniment
  • In Honey Cider Vinegar
  • In Mosquito Repellent

Royal Jelly. Royal jelly is absorbed directly on your skin; where it acts as a natural rejuvenator – stimulating tissue regeneration and growth.

  • In Face Scrub
  • In Cleanser Moisturizer
  • In Honeymilk Lottion
  • In Hair Oil

Bee Venom. Honeybees inject minute trace amounts of bee venom into honey to preserve it. Bee venom strengthens your immune system.
  • In Honey
  • In Honey Cider Vinegar

Honey Cider Vinegar is the very best “transdermal delivery agent” that naturally penetrates your skin to reach the underlying layers of tissues and muscles. It is also a good digestive aid, lubricates your intestines and balances your body chemistry – making it alkaline in reaction – thus detoxifying it of accumulated acids.

  • In Liniment

Wholistic Effect

Ilog Maria products derive their seemingly magical results from all the beehive products that we put in them – from our own bees; which we keep organically and naturally.

All our products can be used all at the same time. We have been doing this for about thirty years. Our children have been doing this all their lives. The last time they were in the hospital was when they were born.

It is usage, not dosage. First, test for any allergic reaction, just to be safe. Take a minute quantity of any product. Then wait an hour or two. Over thirty years, we have not found a single person acutely allergic to our products. One or two have complained of allergic reactions. Upon investigation, we found that they were taking excessive doses of contra-indicated medicines – particularly synthetic steroids. When they learned to follow our advice, they were quickly relieved of their ‘allergic reactions’ and continue to take our products.

Our natural beehive products should be taken first in small amounts and regularly; increasing dosage only when their beneficial effects on each person’s biochemistry has been felt – and only when particularly needed.

There is a wholistic effect in this practice.
  • All natural. Because we take care to use only natural ingredients. All our ingredients are compatible.
  • In Beehives. All the essential ingredients of our products co-exist in the beehive and honeybees are continually exposed to them. These beehive products: honey, beeswax, pollen, propolis, royal jelly and bee venom are all inter-compatible, moreover they have a synergistic effect on the human body.

SHELF LIFE:
  • Beehive Products: honey, pollen, propolis, beeswax and royal jelly all co-exist in beehives at 99 degrees centigrade and about 100% relative humidity. These products are collected, harvested & secreted by honeybees for their own use. They will remain viable and super-active if kept with the bees in the beehive. Bees continually maintain these products for their own use – indefinitely.
  • Honey. Honey will keep for thousands of years, if harvested “ripe” or with a moisture content of below 19 %. After harvest, it is best to bottle it airtight. Honey absorbs moisture and it will absorb moisture from the air if the bottle is left open. When the moisture content of honey rises above 20%, it begins to ferment. It will be best to keep honey in a cool dark place. Pollen grains will tend to rise to the surface because we never filter our honey. Our honey will darken with time because its fructose content degrades. This is normal and harmless. Our sunflower, sesbania and mango honey granulates, this is also normal.
  • Pollen. We collect bee pollen in special pollen traps mounted at the entrances of our beehives. This fresh pollen has a high moisture content. We carefully clean the pollen of hive debris and slowly air dry it. We then pack it immediately. Pollen will only spoil if repeatedly exposed to wet air or if it is brought in and out of a freezer or ref repeatedly. It gets moist. Under normal circumstances, our pollen will keep three months.
  • Propolis. Propolis is a natural preservative. It will last indefinitely. We immerse propolis which we collect from our beehives in organic coconut brandy for about one year. We then decant the liquid portion – this is propolis gold. Over time, some wax and resins of the original propolis will settle on the bottom of the bottle. This is normal.
  • Royal Jelly. We harvest royal jelly fresh from artificial queen cells in specially prepared “queenless” beehives. We immediately freeze it to preserve all of its goodness. When you buy or order royal jelly, it can travel, but of course it will melt. When you get home, freeze it immediately. Next day, you can put it in your chiller for use. If you buy more than one jar, keep the rest in the freezer until you are about to use each jar. Royal jelly will keep for two years as long as it remains frozen.
  • Honey Cider Vinegar. We call this product “cider” because it is incompletely fermented honey vinegar. It will slowly ferment in storage to a strong, full vinegar – balsamico. When it gets to this stage, you will notice that a gel has formed on the surface and a dark precipitate has formed. You may filter this full vinegar through a cloth and use it for “sawsawan”. To accelerate the formation of balsamico, uncap the bottle and replace the cap with a loose cloth or cotton ball.
  • Soaps. If you buy a lot of soaps, put them amongst your clothes. The reason we do not wrap some of our soaps is to let them breathe and cure. Putting them amongst your clothes will achieve this and allow them to cure properly. They will last longer in use, this way.
  • Shampoos and Spa products. These are good for about half a year. They will still be good after about six months, but it will be best to buy them fresh.
  • Throat Spray. If you buy more than one bottle, put the rest in your ref. Waxes and resins in the propolis will “go out of solution” in time. This is normal.
